A Merry Digital Christmas

Being an Engineer, I am always curious how things work. While setting up the technical logistics for Wes’ weather reports from Crabtree Valley Mall here in Raliegh, I had a few minutes to talk to Santa as he took a break to see if we could clear up a few things.
Not everyone believes in Santa, [...]

How Connected Are We?

One of the coolest things about the Internet is the ability to interact with the audience in almost real time. As a “writer” I try to post things that are of interest and concern to get you timely information. If one viewer is having issues, then surely there are many more experiencing the same issue. [...]

October is Internet Pumpkin Month, where you throw me an idea, question, or subject and I toss back a blog post for you. You have already tossed some great ideas my way. One in particular I am acting on. “Hey Russ, why don’t you take a break?”
Well, maybe it was more like just go away [...]

The time has been set! Noon Thirty 6-12-09

In February all the stations seemed to have planned for a midnight switch time, but the delay bill has offered stations the ability to pick anytime they want. Nobody told me…..

Early on in this series of posts on digital TV, I mentioned the diverse calls and emails I receive daily from viewers with and without problems. I must say I have talked with some of the nicest people in the last year that I’d love to just sit and talk at their kitchen table for [...]

Good News For People Who Love Bad News

I mentioned in an earlier post that the villains in movies have replaced the old clock timers on bombs with digital timers. Another thing about these digital timers, is they always run in fast forward at the last minute or after the blue wire is cut.
Well, the blue wire has been cut!
Don’t worry yet, but [...]

Programming Alert! _updated 12/30/08

You may know by now reading this blog, that we share space on the DTV tower with WRAL, WRAZ, WLFL, and WRDC Digital antennas. WRAL has to remove their temporary antenna to installĀ a new antenna for February. This means all the stations must shut down while the workers are on the tower during the daytime [...]
