Reception Deceptions
A viewer just reminded me of a critical step when channels are missing: check the menu to be sure it is set for AIR and NOT CABLE. She was only getting channels from 40-50 because the cable band is totally different from the off air frequency band! All TV sets and many set top boxes have the AIR/CABLE setting!
Use your signal meter on a found channel to peak the signal to the highest reading by adjusting your antenna. Then re-scan. The box must scan anytime the antenna is moved in a different direction.
Try the double rescan method in my last post if you still have problems.
Don’t over think this. It should be simple. Drink a glass of wine and try again. After several tries, you’ll either have all the channels back, or be tipsy.
Win, Win!

Glad I helped. Now For them, keep in mind they are VHF and you use the long rabbit ears to get them, not the circle or bow tie element. Some sets or boxes allow you to manually enter a channel, like 11, then look at the signal meter to play with the longer ears to get maximum signal. Good luck experimenting!

Thank you so much for this blog. I couldn’t get channel 17 in Durham, followed your advice, and now I can get channel 17! But now channel 11 isn’t coming in. Oh well. I’d rather have channel 17.
