Good News For People Who Love Bad News

I mentioned in an earlier post that the villains in movies have replaced the old clock timers on bombs with digital timers. Another thing about these digital timers, is they always run in fast forward at the last minute or after the blue wire is cut.

Well, the blue wire has been cut!

Don’t worry yet, but be aware that when you call 888-388-2009 or visit www.dtv2009.gov to apply for a $40 coupon, you’ll be informed you are on a waiting list and given a number you need to write down. What has happened is they hit the dollar amount limit imposed by Congress. The good news is it’s just a  number, and Congress can juggle numbers better than any group of people on the planet. Almost half the coupons issued expired or have not been redeemed. They just want to re-issue those coupons at no additional cost to the taxpayers!

In the meantime, while the clock is ticking faster, you still have a couple of options. Suck it up and pay full retail for a converter box, or buy a new TV which is not eligible for the coupon anyway. A new TV is actually a good investment right now, so go ahead and make that purchase. Shop around, and you may be surprised at how many great deals are out there. Companies in the worst shape, like Tweeter and other’s going under, may have an excellent deal you can’t refuse!

Again, bad news for the companies, but good news for consumers!
