9-12-2001

On September 12th, 2001, NBC 17 hosted a candlelight vigil at the downtown Raleigh Civic Center Plaza with local radio stations, to bring the Triangle citizens together to remember and heal. Local recording artist Ben Folds delivered the National Anthem, and there wasn’t a dry eye in the crowd. Afterwards, Pastor Shirley Caeser, another favorite local recording artist took the stage and delivered an inspiring set of songs that helped us all heal after such a tragic attack the day before.

It was an amazing feat for our station to pull this off, and a testament to the dedicated hard working staff at NBC 17 and our partners at the local radio stations. I must admit I’m a better Engineer than I am a photographer, but here’s some shots I got while setting up and during the vigil.
