Dude! Where’s my TV?

I hope only a very few or even better, none of our viewers will wake up on June 13th 2009February 18th 2009 to nothing but static on their TV set. It may happen though, so let me say right now: Get digital! It’s not that hard to do, and really does not have to be a mysterious geeky procedure. I’ve had a few viewers call in with other questions, and when I asked them if they already had off air digital sets or tuners, they said they were waiting for the transition.

Dont wait! The transition started back in 1998. Digital has been on the air all this time, and the advantages are breathtaking. Even on your old TV setting on top of a non-working TV, the picture is much better than what you are used to.

Call 1-888-DTV-2009 or visit www.DTV2009.org to get your coupons. The government will send you up to (2) $40.00 coupons, which are actually like gift cards, to purchase a set top box to allow any TV to receive our off air DTV signals. Several retailers are stocking the eligible boxes from $40.00 to $70.00 or so. These are basic converter boxes, and will work fine on any TV in your house. If you suscribe to cable or satellite, they will continue to provide the same service you get now, but it’s a good idea to have the off air converter box just in case something happens. Ever forget to pay your bill on time?

You have to take the first step. Get the converter box, and come back here and we will talk about more detailed information in a way you can understand and enjoy. Let’s take it slowly for the beginners, and we’ll work our way up to the home theatre experience in later posts, but it takes up to 6-8 weeks for your coupons to arrive, so apply for them now. You do not have to use the coupon if you have already purchased a home theatre system, but keep in mind those kitchen sets, guest rooms, and RV’s using antennas.
